All of us at Immigration Attorneys, LLP are excited.  So many interesting immigration related events are happening this summer of 2012.  Its an election year which means that immigration change and policy is at the forefront of national domestic policy debate.  Everyone knows we need change.  Business is excited by the proposals to make it easier for green cards to be granted to the highly educated in certain fields of study.  The current administration has announced a momentous opportunity for those brought here as children (DREAMERS).  The Supreme Court has mostly determined that immigration policy needs to be decided by our federal government.  The Board of Immigration Appeals has recently decided cases that allow pending applicants to travel, expanded the definition of a legal entry allowing more people to apply for status, and even admitted that laws limiting who may apply for benefits may be unconstitutional.

The reality of this much activity occurring at the same time, means people are again rallying around the prospects of real change in policy.  But it does not stop there.  Cities like Chicago are challenging the notion of strict compliance.  Cities like Crete are saying no to private detention.  States like Illinois are revisiting driver licenses for all.
