Robert R. Gard practices in the firm’s Chicago office where he concentrates his practice in the area of immigration and naturalization, and handles all aspects of immigration law including temporary visa processing, applications for permanent residence and naturalization. He assists corporate and individual clients in maintaining compliance with U.S. immigration laws and he works with foreign investors, entrepreneurs and executives to facilitate entry to the U.S. Mr. Gard also works with individuals and families to secure legal status and U.S. citizenship.

Legislative, Lobbying and Community-Based Activities:

Since 1982, Mr. Gard has been an active Member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (“AILA”), an “affiliated organization” of the American Bar Association, and he served the professional organization as Chapter Chair of the Greater Chicago Chapter of AILA, 1990-91, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the association’s national organization. He has also provided testimony and served as a resource for information before various local and state legislative bodies as an advocate for immigration related legislation.

Mr. Gard has been a frequent lecturer on family and employment-based Immigration Law related matters at professional and community conferences, festivals and seminars, and on television and radio programs in various ethnic communities, and serves as a consultant on immigration matters for a group of Filipino motorcycle enthusiasts. He is the author of many print and web-based articles concerning issues related to Immigration Law, and since 1990, has written a monthly article on Immigration Law related issues. These articles are currently published in VIA TIMES Newsmagazine, a regional ethnic newsmagazine. In November of 2006, Mr. Gard was also selected as a “Friend of the Filipino in immigration law” for the 13th Annual Chicago Filipino American Hall of Fame Awards.
